Myranda Reimer

Physiotherapist, Certified Pelvic Floor Therapist

Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism Coach, CrossFit Level 1

People often ask, what drew you to highlight women’s and pelvic health?

As a Physical Therapist, my curiosity with Women’s Health grew from a place not understanding my own body and being unsatisfied with the lack of info for other ladies. Shortly after learning more about pelvic health physio I knew I wanted to learn more, educate and advocate for increased health information for females. TRUE HOLISTIC CARE includes screening and consideration of pelvic health for all, along with all the other important areas and parts of us.

I particularly enjoy lifting weights, gymnastics, ultimate frisbee and riding my bicycles! These days I move my body because I enjoy it and I am focused on living a happy, healthy and active journey; I want to and will always be an athlete in my own given right and ability (And you can feel this way too). When I was younger I let the outside world pressure me into certain thoughts that resulted in actions that were not always the best for my health. I am sure you can relate; Thoughts that I needed to starve myself, work out for hours on end, and needed to look a certain way to be accepted by people.

My mindset is different now and I am grateful those in my life that have supported by journey personally, ultimately influencing me professionally!

My keen interest in women's and pelvic health has been followed up with specialized courses specific to working with women of all ages and stages of life! It is a pleasure to support the goals of women who wish to live confident, empowering, symptom-free life!

I am also passionate about being an educator. In spare time I am a teaching assistant for Antony Lo, The Physio Detective and have assisted with his course The Female Athlete. Antony is one of my mentors and is a great role model for healthcare professionals with the desire to work with women who want to exercise while considering the clients pelvic health.

Women’s Health Physiotherapy

Through physiotherapy and exercise based support, we can work together to help support your health and fitness goals. My approach to physiotherapy is based on whole mind-body-person education and approaches (biopsychosocial approach).

I am available to help you with any movements or challenges you are having from picking up kids, playing with family, walks, biking, rec sports, HIIT workouts, finding comfort when you are at rest working, caring for littles all the way to competitive sports.

Helping women live with confident, strength and ease is my passion.

Core including Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Pelvic health, also known as pelvic floor physical therapy further explores pelvic floor dysfunction or other symptoms related to the pelvic area, this includes surrounding joints, muscles and connective tissue.

The Pelvic Health Physiotherapy in general includes a large range of assessment possibilities depending on stage of healing, indication, and goals of the client.

Options to help you learn more about your body and build on different factors may include, but are not limited to:

Movement Analysis

If you are having troubles or have questions about a specific exercise or movement in sport the most beneficial way to answer questions and improve is to address the source!

Movement analysis helps you learn more about what you may find helpful new strategies to support your end goal.

Supplemental exercises or movement will be provided to help you improve as well.

External Examination

External assessment of tissue and pelvic floor muscles might include hands-on assessment over clothes, as in the picture below, or on the skin which provides information about tissue healing post-partum. It may also include hands-off approaches, for example being

For example: You are unaware if when you lift your baby in the car seat or weights at the gym if you are bearing down. With consent, Myranda may provide hands-on assessment and feedback about your strategy that can help you make changes.

Internal Examination

Internal vaginal or rectal pelvic examinations from a certified pelvic health physiotherapist can provide you specific information about your pelvic floor muscles, pelvic organs and connective tissue.

Pelvic floor muscles have a number of important functions. The connective tissue and muscles can be affected during pregnancy, labor and delivery, secondary to menopause, and for other resources not specific to having a baby. Myranda will support you in the ways you think are best for you, and internal assessments are only one option for supporting you!

Abdominal Muscle Physiotherapy

We can continue to strength train our core during pregnancy AND it is beneficial to begin again after all births. To make it “safe” and appropriate, we will match it to you.

During and after pregnancy, it is common to have questions about how your abdomen looks at rest and during exercise. Some women experience stretch marks, loose skin, or an appearance of budging in the abdomen with movement or exercise after birth.

You may have questions about what movements are helpful for supporting your abdominal muscles to regain tone, strength and improve function within the first year.

Myranda has continuing education in the following areas of abdominal muscle health and support you if you are wanting to learn more about:

  • Pregnancy abdominal muscle concerns: pain into the abdomen or pelvis, exercise modifications, after birth planning

  • Postnatal abdominal muscle rehabilitation

  • Abdominal muscle separation aka Diastasis Recti

  • Cesarean Section preparation and Postnatal recovery

  • Day to day movement and exercise concerns

  • Laparoscopic surgeries that require “ports” in the abdomen

Preparing for or recovering from an abdominal surgery? Myranda has a special interest in providing physiotherapy to help you prepare and recover with reduced pain and challenge.

  • Prehab = learning strategies ahead of time to help you prepare for what is to come and reduce the learning curve during recovery

Your surgeon will provide you with some information to help prep you and for general recovery. However, for some the brief sessions and information may not be enough to give us all the information we may want or need, and likely will not include hands on assessment or exercises to help further with recovery.

Physiotherapy to support you during

Pregnancy, Birth & Beyond

Many women want more information about how our body changes during pregnancy AND of course we want to find more ease and comfort it symptoms arise! Physiotherapy during pregnancy can help you start or continue to train strength as well as include stretching and mobility to prepare for birth.

In addition to advanced core and specific pelvic floor training, Myranda is also a Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism coach passionate about helping women keep moving and exercising! You can continue what you are doing or start something new AND there are helpful things to know about your body and how we can adjust exercise!

Ladies In Fitness Together, aka LIFT @ home is an easy-to-follow strength training program for busy women who want to get strong & fit without leaving their house!

Over 3 years ago, a number of new moms were heading back to their jobs after their maternity leaves. Not wanting to stop strength training (they were consistently attending in person LIFT pre postnatal classes) but also not feeling they had the extra time to commute to a gym, I offered to start LIFT @ home!

Over the past 20 years, I've been strength training it has only been in the last 6 years that I've figured out how to truly make lifting weights exactly what I need. I’ve had chapters of my life away from strength because if it wasn’t what I wanted I got annoyed (all or nothing mindset). However, the drought never lasted longer than 4-6 months and I always picked up the weights again.

ULTIMATELY, we need strength training to be accessible! For some of us, we can make the gym, we can take an hour, AND for just as many of us that doesn't work. Let’s find what can work for you!

LIFT @ home started again in Nov 2023 and the plan is it keep it rolling!

LIFT @ Home with Myranda is fantastic. Myranda is incredibly kind and has a knack for making everyone feel included and a part of the LIFT community. The weekly Monday virtual workouts are well organized and efficient, while still getting a great workout focused toward postnatal fitness (great for new moms who may only have a short window of time to workout). The two at-home workouts are also easy to follow with Myranda posting many ‘how-to’ videos to ensure you understand each exercise and have various options so you can tailor them to your energy level and time frame. LIFT @ Home is a great option whether you are new to fitness or a fitness veteran who is looking to get back into working out following a baby. 100% recommended!”
— Jacey
I really enjoy LIFT, Myranda programs the workouts to be effective and has endless modifications so each movement will work for everyone at any stage. This has helped my mindset, workouts don’t need to be long. All movement is good movement!”
— Sydney
LIFT at Home has worked exceptionally well for me as you have encouraged me to push myself a little bit more each week. I feel so much stronger and better as the weeks go by. I would recommend LIFT at Home to anyone wanting to workout at home but needing some motivation or not sure how to get started!”
— Renelle

A closer look…

Each year I take the feedback from the ladies and have made adjustments to the workouts and format. This next session has some exciting new advancements that I am really looking forward to and know you will appreciate the simplicity, accessibility and enjoyment that strength and conditioning can be from home!

  • Workouts will now be delivered through the TrueCoach App that you can access from computer, tablet or phone

    • individual demo videos within app and built in timer

    • option to track workouts

  • Additional stretching and guidance for recovery between workout days to support recovery

  • More tips on how to adjust workouts based on time and energy

  • Please read this whole section. There are some important considerations in order to submit your LIFT @home receipts for reimbursement under your private physiotherapy insurance.

    1. Check with your insurance provider if you need a doctor’s referral. If you have not needed one for Chiropractic care or Massage therapy, you most likely do not need one for Physiotherapy.

    2. Everyone’s insurance is different and has unique limitations and maximums.

    3. Payment is taken and receipts are sent to confirm your access to workout programming and access to live exercise classes. After connecting for a one on one physiotherapy session and individualized support is provided, an updated receipt is sent that can be submitted. There is not additional cost. One on one sessions allow me to provide continued assessment and treatment, an important requirement of my profession and insurance contracts.
